How to get there

Travessia Beach Lodge is in the South of Mozambique, about 60km north of Inhambane, as the crow flies. Daily flights from Johannesburg take you to Vilankulos (with SA Airlink) or Inhambane (with LAM,via Maputo). International travellers may also fly to Maputo and take a LAM connection to Inhambane from there. We provide transfers from Vilankulos and Inhambane to Travessia, as well as from other lodges in the province, if required.
To travellers from South Africa who like to combine a Kruger Park safari with a trip to us, we recommend staying over in Nelspruit before entering Mozambique. From Nelspruit to Travessia is a scenic day’s drive. There are a few options to overnight in between. Once you turn off the EN1 to get to us, it is 6km dirt/sand road of which the last few hundred meters before reaching the lodge is a sandy 4×4 track. If you are travelling by 2-wheel drive we can arrange a pick-up and secure local parking for the duration of your stay. Please enquire with us for directions.
Just drop us an email and we are happy to help you with the planning of your trip with a few recommendations.

Malaria

Mozambique is malaria country and suitable precautions are advisable. With or without malaria prophylaxis, we recommend covering up as soon as the sun sets, particularly when traveling in more populated areas. All our beds have mosquito nets. In general, you might find less mosquitos at Travessia than elsewhere, because of regular treatments of our drainages and the soft breeze we enjoy most evenings. Malaria can easily be treated if detected early but obviously, avoidance is key. Speak to us if you need more insider’s information.

Visa requirements

Visitors to Mozambique require a visa unless they come from one of the visa-exempt countries, such as most of the countries from Southern Africa. Visas are available on entry at the border for travelers with passports from countries with not Mozambican representation. Please enquire at your local Mozambican embassy for more information.
